Let’s try something with a touch of spice

We were wondering where to eat and fancied something a little spicy and suitable for vegetarians. After a bit of a search we settled on Bombay Affair, located in Southport, Queensland.  One of the reasons we love Indian food is that it really does provide the very best options for vegetarians.

The first appetiser that we had was particularly interesting. These were little mouthfuls of crispy pastry filled with some cheese and tamarind. Very  much the sort of dishes you have to put straight into your mouth otherwise when you bite them you will have quite a serious mess!!

Other little appetisers included some little potato patties that were very interesting.

One of the dishes described on the menu as smashed Samosa really took a fancy. As it turned out, this was one of our all-time favourites and having been back to the restaurant again on two occasions this dish has been reordered several times.

Anyone who knows us will also know that if we go to an Indian restaurant is not possible for us to have a meal without ordering the Paalak Paneer.  This version did not let us down. There was plenty of spinach and plenty of the Indian style cheese.

We are big fans of beautifully cooked rice, and this one lived up to our expectations. Cooked with some cumin seeds the rice was fluffy and plentiful.

On the side, we had some lentil dal –  the dish was really tasty and went very well with the rice.

It’s really hard to go past the spinach and cheese naan bread. This bread was soft and filled with a wonderful combination of spinach and melted cheese. Truly delicious. We also had some garlic naan to those people who did not fancy the richer cheesy variety.

This meal was a winner and led to us going back on a couple more occasions. Even writing this blog makes us want to go back and enjoy another Indian meal at Bombay Affair.

Cost per head was about $ 20-25. We loved it and will be back again!
