A day in the country

Come with us for a little photo-journey to the Victorian country side! It is always a treat to breathe fresh air and taste great food. Discover the ever popular Daylesford is an easy 1.5 hour drive from Melbourne, Victoria in Australia.

We had a coffee in the main street and then headed down to the lake for a walk.

The day was truly gorgeous with the sun shining and blue skies. We breathed in the fresh country air and then headed off for the walk around the lake. It is really picturesque and pleasant. We passed a few other walkers out with their dogs but it was mainly very peaceful.

One nice thing about visiting in late October is that the Spring flowers are in bloom and it really makes you feel uplifted and good to be alive.

We always love exploring new pathways both directly and metaphorically (!). There is something exciting thinking about what is around the bend….

The walk finished we climbed back into the hire car.

Next, we headed over to the another country town – Trentham. A small but cute village feel is what this town is about and we headed for the Red Beard bakery.

The bakery is located down a little laneway and hidden away from the main street. The shops features plenty of sour dough bread and scrumptious cakes.

We felt we should go for a healthy lunch and opted for the toasted sandwich to share. It was packed with spinach, melted cheese and pumpkin. Very tasty and filling.

Ready to eat

The Bakery was fairly busy with lots of small and large groups both inside and out. The service was friendly and the quality of the food great. We also purchased a little ginger and treacle cake to take back to the city for friends.

Visited in late October 2016.
