Kenny’s Malay Kitchen

It was a relatively cold and wintry night, so we felt like something spicy. A friend had previously told us about a little hidden gem – Kenny’s Malay Kitchen located at the Bowls club in Broadbeach Waters, Queensland (Australia).

We thought ‘why not?’ let’s just give it a go. We decided to arrive early (for us) around 6 PM and  have a quick meal. After looking at the menu – and also getting a Chinese version of the menu! – we decided to try some curry puffs and some roti bread as a starter. Both were excellent.

Next, we tried some salt and pepper soft shell crab (an all time favourite with us), as well as some prawn sambal and a tofu dish.

It was all very tasty and, for total price for three of us around $75, we thought it was pretty good value. This place is fully licensed and you buy your drinks at the bar adjoining the restaurant. Most drinks, such as a glass of wine or some beer cost about $5 each.

We enjoyed the food and agreed that we would come back for another cheap and cheerful meal. It is a simply decorated venue so don’t have high class expectations for the decor. We visited in June 2016.
