Wei’s mum was visiting her in Australia. She has never been to Sydney before, so we decided to make a trip to Sydney and show her the wonderful sights of this city.
Maybe the weather was not that great or something like that as the flight was delayed for about 30 minutes. Still, we took off and had an uneventful flight – this is good! We arrived in Sydney around 11 o’clock and took a cab to our hotel. On this visit to Sydney we stayed the Grace Hotel, which is located in the central area of Sydney on King Street. We checked in, left our luggage and got ready to start our trip.
We have followed a cafe called “Devon on Danks” for a long time on Instagram, so we decided to make the effort to go to suburb of Waterloo for lunch. It was a little rainy but we made it there without getting wet.
The restaurant was fully packed when we arrived. It was lucky that we got a table for 4 immediately. We read the menu and made the decision on our drinks first : 1 blood orange juice, 1 beetroot juice and 1 matcha latte.
For the main course we decided to share since we had booked a favourite restaurant for dinner. One of our party ordered (the meat eater!) “No Spain No Gain” – Spanish sausages and we (Bev/Wei) ordered smoked salmon with potato noodles.
After the main meal we were tempted to order some desserts – it’s the duty of a blogger we tell ourselves. Very special duty for us. Below are some pretty photos of some desserts provided at Devon.
The signature dessert at Devon is soft serve Sundae with sweet potato, taro and purple carrots. The flavour of the soft serve changes daily. The flavour of the day was jasmine blue pea. It was beautiful! So we ordered one soft serve and one matcha cronnie.
We had dinner plans to meet family at Lotus Dining at the Galeries. We had great high-tea experience here last time. So we were very looking forward to it. It was a Chinese food feast!
For starter, we ordered two types of dumplings: prawn dumplings and mushroom dumplings. Prawn dumplings and mushroom dumplings they are all really really nice!
For main courses, we ordered Kong Pao chicken, wok-fried green beans, spicy wok-fried king prawns and the crispy eggplant.
We had a great day! Don’t you just love holidays that involve food!!!!
