We were back on our way to Sydney, leaving the Gold Coast around 10am and flying virgin airlines arriving on time in Sydney at about 12:30.
We caught a cab and went directly to our hotel – Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour. We arrived and checked in but our rooms weren’t ready as we were quite early, but we were offered free refreshments: we had cups of coffee, cranberry juice and a packet of nuts. Actually what we found out later was that this hotel offers free refreshments/snacks in the room and also in the lobby. So you can give yourself a small treat whenever you want. How great is that!
We decided to head out for a bit of walk, so we wandered around the Darling Harbour – an area which is very popular with tourists and quite beautiful. We then headed up to the city near the Queen Victoria building and wandered around the Pitt Street mall, Myer, Westfield shopping areas just taking it easy.
We stopped off for a really lovely coffee at Gumption Coffee in the Strand Arcade. We had read this was a great place to have a cup of coffee and certainly by the queues it seemed as if it really was a good place. We ordered a soy cappuccino and it lived up to expectations.
After this we made our way up to Chat Thai to meet up with our Instagram bestie and have a lovely meal. We ordered a whole fish in red curry, some fish balls in a green curry and some crab-meat fried rice. The dishes were tasty, quite creamy and a good size. This was plenty for the three of us. We considered having some of the deserts but in the end decided we would head out for a walk and get some gelato. We paid the bill $72 for the three of us including a couple of soft drinks.
Next, we headed out to Surrey Hills to RivaReno Gelato where the gelato is made on the premises. The gelato was really creamy and very flavoursome.Wwe ordered a premium Indian mango with yogurt gelato and a sheep milk Ricotta and caramelised fig gelato.
Next we walked back to our hotel and all and all for the day we did
about 20,000 steps. Tired but happy 😃😀
