Hungry Jaws Chinese Restaurant locates at Robina Quays Shopping Centre, 8/361 Robina Parkway. It aims to bring you full, authentic Sichuan cuisine experience! Sichuan style of Chinese cuisine originates from Sichuan province in southwestern China. It has super spicy flavours and most dishes are in the colour of “RED”, due to the liberal use of garlic and chili peppers, as well as the unique flavor of the Sichuan peppercorns.
The decor of the restaurant is quite plain with no relevance to Chinese cuisine or anything else in the restaurant, except one Chinese paper-cutting hanging on the wall.
Of the food itself, portion sizes are good, but not as tasty as typical Sichuan cuisine. Maybe add more chilies we reckon! lol lol lol
We ordered three dishes: sweet and chili sauce eggplants, stir-fried green beans and salt and pepper prawns. The salt and pepper prawns are really yummy but the green beans and eggplants are not as good as Fu Kang Restaurant (you can find our review here Review of Fu Kang Chinese Restaurant, Gold Coast.
Interestingly, you can also order “takeaway fish and chips” from here – something it is hardly to believe a Chinese restaurant offers.
Overall, it’s a casual BYO place to have a meal with family or friends. Service was very basic and ordinary.
It costs $54 for three dishes, one bowl of rice, one beer and one prune juice.
