Social Eating House located on Oracle Boulevard, Broadbeach, Queensland. It promotes a unique shared dining experience from oysters to bar snacks, small plates and large plates. It is always busy so make sure you book to secure a spot. There is indoor and outdoor (curb-side) seating available.
We first visited Social in June this year (2015) for a lunch meeting. The service was really good. We ordered two small plates to share: Bev’s forever favourite “Soft shell crab” and “Octopus” (see old pictures we took in June below). These were taken by using smartphone camera therefore the colour doesn’t look that great as the taste!
Both dishes tasted like heaven. Bev even commented that “The soft shell crab is the best I have ever had in recent years.” Prices were pretty fair for Broadbeach. Therefore, we decide we must re-visit this cute little place.
Finally, the chance came this month. It is one of our eating group members had a birthday celebration. We had booked for the 6.00 sitting (outside). This time we brought our “professional” blogger camera (Haha!), and surely you can see the quality of photos becomes much better!
We had a variety of food: chargrilled octopus, soft shell crab and beer battered whiting fillets, all small plates to start with. All the food was exceptional! The char- grilled octopus was firm, beautifully cooked and really tasty. The fish fillets were moist and the batter was light.
For the second round, we ordered steak for our birthday boy. Since we girls don’t eat meat, we just quote the meat eater who commented about the steak: “The steak was very tasty, moist, rare, juicy, but perhaps a little bit on the salty side. Beautifully presented and overall I loved it!”
For us girls, we were very keen to order the soft shell crab again and we DID! It was sooo good! If you are a big fan of soft shell crab, this is a must try dish. You won’t be disappointed.
At the end, we listened to the waitress’s suggestion and also ordered their signature dessert – Milk chocolate & coffee marquise. To be honest, it was too rich and too chocolaty to us. But if you are a chocolate lover, you can’t miss it!
In total, we spent $163 for all the food dishes, two glasses of wine, one beer, two soft drinks and one bottle of sparkling water.
