Fu Kang GC Chinese Restaurant, Labrador

Fu Kang GC Chinese Restaurant is a terrific little neighbourhood find in an easy to miss corner of Labrador. We always enjoy our meals there. It offers the most authentic but affordable Chinese food for you.

Eggplants are our forever favourite. They are mixed with sweet and sour chilli sauce and also one special traditional Chinese sauce. The flavour is sweet, sour and a bit spicy. Plus the tender texture, very tasty!

Green beans and fermented hard tofu are also super good. They have been stirred fried until completely soft and added with lots of garlic and dried chilies then finished by adding soy sauce and other seasonings. Yum!!!

Sautéed tofu and shiitake mushrooms are also one of our favourite. The tofu and mushrooms are always very tender. Especially the tofu is very tasty after overnight soaking in some special sauce.

The best dish, of course, is the fish soup. You have 2 options in Fu Kang: green soup and red soup.

The green soup is mainly fish fillet with fermented green vegetables. You can really taste sour flavour in the fish and also the soup. If you are coriander lover, you can order extra coriander to put in the soup. The strong and special smell will definitely enhance your eating experience!

The red soup is normally made with fish fillet in red chilli oil and mixed with lots and lots of dried deep fried chillies and peppers. It’s a very typical Sichuan style cuisine and it looks super HOT!

SPECIAL HINT: If you can’t eat too much spicy food, please don’t forget to ask for “medium hot” when you order.

Normally, a meal for 3 costs about $65 in total (plus one beer and tea for 3). You can bring your own wine to enjoy the meal more.
