Melbourne Winter Exploration – Day 3

Proud Mary, 172 Oxford Street, Collingwood
We headed out to Collingwood in order to visit  Proud Mary. Proud Mary was absolutely crowded but luckily we found the corner of the table. We ate a pea and feta fritter and poached eggs.

Aunty Peg’s, 200 Wellington Street, Collingwood
We walked a couple of hundred metres down the road to find the sister location Aunty Peg’s. This is an amazing place with some huge coffee bean roaster machines and as soon as you walk in the door you smell beautiful aromas of the different coffees. We were lucky to have a tour of this factory where they do their roasting and  they explained to us all the different coffees that come predominantly from South America. We tasted some lovely filtered coffee. To go with the coffee we had a profiterole that was filled with hazelnut cream. Yum😊

Melbourne Zoo, Elliott Avenue, Parkville
A visit to the Melbourne Zoo– the first time in many years, it was a family occasion and we had a great time looking at all the animals in the various enclosures.

D.O.C Pizza & Mozzarella Bar, 295 Drummond St, Carlton
An early dinner at  D.O.C. Pizza Carlton. The service was interesting with many Italian waiters prancing around the restaurant and doing great impersonations. The pizzas were really excellent with thin crusts and very interesting toppings: 1. Prawns with tomato; 2. Mushrooms with truffle oil; and, 3. Cheese, blue cheese and spinach. A bottle of Chinotto went really well with our pizza.
